2011 Summed Up In One Quote

Wiesel-and-obama
 Eli with Obama.

“We must take sides. Neutrality helps the oppressor, never the victim. Silence encourages the tormentor, never the tormented. Sometimes we must interfere. When human lives are endangered, when human dignity is in jeopardy, national borders and sensitivities become irrelevant. Wherever men and women are persecuted because of their race, religion, or political views, that place must - at that moment - become the center of the universe.”

― Elie Wiesel

One of the most pertinent quotes I've read, especially looking at the year 2011 in retrospect. Civil uprisings like the Egyptian revolution, the Libyan civil war and Occupy Wall Street resonated around the world, thanks to the power of social media. National borders have become meaningless and the term 'Global Village' has never made more sense than in this day and age.
